In a career spanning over 25 years and having dabbled in various media, Prashant Prabhu settled into watercolours as his favourite medium of expression, and today, is renowned for painting watercolour landscapes. His technique is unique; he has a minimalist approach while staying within the realistic genre. Firm strokes and the pristine background of the paper are central in his work. He spends a lot of time in “sadhana”, or practice, knowing that perseverance is critical for attaining mastery over a difficult medium such as watercolour. A winner of the Maharashtra State Award in 2003, and a two-time finalist in the International Artist Magazine worldwide competition, Prabhu has also participated in marquee invite-only art camps such as Arts Trust - RPG, and Royal Watercolour Society India Camp. His cityscapes have been selected for the Royal Watercolour Society contemporary international exhibitions in 2016 and 2017. He has also shown at Parallax Art Fair in London in 2013. Prashant Prabhu has held solo exhibitions at Jehangir Art Gallery, Nehru Centre, Lalit Kala Akademi and a few others.
