Chandrashekhar Morkonda hails from Srikalahasti, a prominent pilgrimage town. His decision to adopt trees as his main theme for his first series “Kalpakavriksha” came to him when he was in Santiniketan. His identity, he says are the colours he uses and his tribal art enthused style. “I love everything Indian. I try not to use pale colours. I stick to vibrant colours, and the textures are inspired from different tribal arts and crafts but most importantly they are reflections of my memories of watching my parents weave”.
