Yusuf Arakkal is a Malayali artist based in Bangalore. Yusuf lost both his parents at a very tender age. Leaving the comforts of his home behind, he left for Bangalore to pursue his passion for art. Today, he is one of India’s most acclaimed and celebrated artists. He is an extremely sensitive artist. His paintings reflect his concern and involvement with social issues and the world and people around him. They reflect more than anything the inherent solitude and loneliness of life and the living.
Recently, he received the prestigious Lorenzo De Medici Medal at Florence Internazionale Biennnale in Florence for his work Bacon's Man with the child and Priest. He has won several other awards, and has a large body of work including paintings, drawings, sculptures, murals and graphics.
